  HASHTAG THERAPY

ADRIENNE LOTH
M.A. LMFT

The way one finds their path is often unexpected. For me, a head injury from a surfing accident, which left me unable to speak for two+ years, is how I discovered the true value of listening. Though I had been in the process of becoming a medical doctor, this difficult experience instilled in me a passion for helping others lead more enriched lives, and I redirected my career to psychotherapy, where I am now able to help others turn their adversity and perceived limitations into social, emotional, and professional success.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, my primary goal is to provide my clients with the tools to overcome their personal challenges. I believe that you can be empowered to find true balance and serenity, and ultimately lead a healthier, happier, more enriching life. In a safe, confidential environment, I’ll use a variety of therapeutic approaches, tailored to your specific personality and needs, to encourage honest exploration and personal growth.

I’m far more action-oriented than traditional “How does that make you feel?”-type therapy. I’m open, direct, and proactive, and I put emotional and personal struggles in perspective, helping you find the practical implications of your needs and realistic interventions that you can begin immediately.  By using all the tools at my disposal, I model how you can do the same, to feel good and live well.

I specialize in the one-on-one treatment of trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, and co-occuring disorders, with a focus on chemical dependency and recovery. My clients come from all walks of life, a diverse group of social, cultural, and economic backgrounds, and from a wide range of career paths.  I’ve had a lot of personal experience in the entertainment and fashion industries so I’ve discovered that I am uniquely equipped to connect with and treat artists and creatives.

As a practicing Buddhist, I’ll work closely with my clients on mindfulness. I’m also DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) skills trained and I apply these principles to help my clients transform their negative thought patterns into positive outcomes. I’ve spent 20 years in the recovery community, so I’m versed in recovery from a variety of addictive behaviors, and I can seamlessly collaborate with 12-step work as well as help clients find forms of support that either compliment or substitute for traditional recovery. I also offer intensive clinical case management, for both individuals and families.

Whether you’ve never been to therapy in your life, or you’re looking to evolve and build upon your past mental health and self-care work, my philosophy is that therapy should be something you look forward to, even when the work is hard. Let’s work together to get you to thrive!

Background Info:
I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. In the past, I completed a B.A., pre-med and research studies at UCLA in Neuroscience and Health Psychology. I have served as an interventionist and case manager for a variety of clients, and I am comfortable including couple’s therapy, family work and parent coaching into my treatment plans.

I previously served as the Clinical and Program Director for Resolutions Therapeutic Services, Outpatient Program.
